SLV Theatre Company had its first production as a For Profit company in October of 2009 with Horace Holly's The Incompatibles.
This was followed by Waiting On Trains and The Romanian Uranium Mystery in 2010. Both of these plays were written by D.M. Bocaz-Larson.
July 22 & 23 of 2011 showcased The Pill: Ibuprofen written by James A. Munro & Jamie A. Munro. Produced by special arrangement with Heuer Publishingg LLC of Cedar Rapids, Iowa. This was the final show at the True Grits Restaurant in Alamosa, Colorado. All the previous shows mentioned above also took place at this venue.
This was followed by You Know The Old Slaying in October of this same year (2011) and was the first show at the Alamosa Golf Course restaurant.
2012 kicked off a series of five shows starting with Mugsy Sent Me! at the Alamosa Golf Course restaurant in February, followed by the musical Guys and Dolls at the Ute Theatre in Saguache, CO in June.
Dead To The Last Drop was done at two separate venues three months apart - Sierra Grande High School Auditorium in Fort Garland CO and The Inn of The Rio Grande in Alamosa, CO.
Inception of The San Luis Valley Theatre Company
2013 began with the show Darling, You Slay Me! This was the first play produced by the Non- Profit company now known as The San Luis Valley Theatre Company at two separate venues in April at The Inn of The Rio Grande and July at AllGone Restaurant in Fort Garland CO. This was followed by an adorable children's play called The Tower in September at San Marcos Restaurant in Blanca, CO which was then followed by the farce Lend Me A Tenor at the Center school theatre in October.
The Bob and Al Show kicked off 2014 in March at The Inn of The Rio Grande Hotel in Alamosa, Colorado followed by a double mystery night with The Monkey's Paw and Murder at Peculiar Manor at the Center School Theatre in Center Colorado in July of 2014. The year ended with The Big Five - OH! in November also at the Center School Theatre in Center.
In 2015 we started the year with Drop Dead at the Grille Restaurant at the Cattails Golf Course in Alamosa in February.
SLV Theatre Company produced the cute play Touched by An Alien at the Alien Watch Tower in Hooper, Colorado on July 25th. The children could not get enough hugs from the Alien and chased it for nearly a quarter of a mile to get more hugs! Finally it made its escape through a hidden portal in an old shack - well, that's how the kids told it anyway... as told to them by grown ups who um.. witnessed the event.
The San Luis Valley Theatre Company closed out the year with the farce CONTEMPT OF COURT! which was done at The Grille Restaurant at the Cattails Country Club Golf Course in Alamosa, CO. on October 30th and 31st 2015. A production which was very well received by a very interactive audience! Over 150 in attendance.
2016 started off with EVERYBODY HAS ONE. A play written by local play write Kristy Manning. On closing night of the play which was held at the Center School Auditorium in January, the audience gave us a Standing Ovation- what excitement! What a way to start the New Year!
March 2016 was the second play of the year - Dinner Theatre - MURDER AT CAFE' NOIR was a blast and the audience sure seemed to enjoy it as they were good sports when the actors brought them in the act! This was held at the Rodeway Inn in Alamosa, CO. The 3rd play of 2016 was a reprise of EVERYBODY HAS ONE in the summer at ASU - Carter Hall.
In 2017 SLV Theatre Company once again performed the play TOUCHED BY AN ALIEN at the Sierra Grand high school in Fort Garland as part of a fund raising program for an ailing young man.
Scott Cherney's play MURDER: THE FINAL FRONTIER was performed by SLV Theatre Company as a dinner theatre production at the Rodeway Inn in Alamosa.
The San Luis Valley Theatre Company followed this with the inception of our Children's Theatre Program with another cute play by www.freedrama.net called THE CAPTAIN AND THE CAT. The final production for 2017 was JUST LIKE US. One of our biggest plays which was done at the Carson Auditorium on August 25 & 26 in conjunction with the Immigrant Resource Center.
We kicked off 2018 with another successful Children's Theatre Camp in February. The children performed for 25 family and friends at the Rodeway Inn. A third Theatre Camp in June performing at the Summer Fest.
THE SAN LUIS VALLEY THEATRE COMPANY performed the musical ZOOT SUIT which was directed by the companies vice president Luis Salazar. This was performed at Richardson Hall at ASU in February 2019.
This was followed by the Dinner Theatre play called MOLLY HOWARD IS NO MORE and performed at the All-Gone restaurant in Fort Garland in May 2019.
The final performance of 2019 was the play GIRL'S NIGHT OUT which was directed by Vice President Luis Salazar as a fund raiser for Roscoe, the President of the company who had a major accident where he last a leg.
2020 due to the pandemic there were no shows.
August 2021 Started with a live and online play called MURDER: THE FINAL FRONTIER. This was written by Scott Cherney of Stockton, CA and performed at Society Hall.
November 2021 ended with the romantic comedy written by Doug Larson, WAITING ON TRAINS.
